Imagine Bugatti: A New Chapter Begins for the Automakers

1526782_413096932152530_81716330485076164_nOn August 12, 2015, Bugatti, one of the world’s most coveted automakers, updated its Facebook cover photo. Normally, the car company’s gesture would be considered nothing out of the ordinary; but this time, the update sent their four million followers into a complete frenzy.

While the cover photo contained no photographic component, it did showcase the company’s brand-new hashtag #imaginEBugatti. Many of Bugatti’s followers took it upon themselves to read into the two-worded phrase, and many came to the same conclusion: Bugatti’s next big release will be an electric or hybrid car due to the capitalized “E” in the hashtag.

Days after the Facebook update, Bugatti released a cryptic 35-second video that also did not reveal any image of the new mystery vehicle. The teaser, however, displayed a moving road surface and a voiceover stating, “In the endless hunt for speed, the horizon beckons… I go beyond reality. Pushed forward by pure instinct, every inch of the race sets me free. I chase the day, the night and the new dawn. Imagine the impossible.” The company captioned the video, “A new chapter begins, join us.”

The news comes months after Bugatti publicized they had sold off their last Veyron sports car since its initial production launch 10 years ago.

“So far, no other carmaker has managed to successfully market a product that stands for unique top-class technical performance and pure luxury in a comparable price/volume range,” says President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., Wolfgang Dürheimer, in a press release. “An unprecedented chapter in automobile history has reached its climax.”

Perhaps, the automaker is referencing a new class of luxury vehicles since the Veyron era has ended. The only question is, will the mysterious vehicle surpass the Veyron’s speed and premier style of luxury or will the it aim to set the bar even higher? Only time will tell.
