Italian Speed for Cure: Weekend Rally in Montclair
A line up of Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Maseratis graced Church Street last Sunday, June 8, in Montclair, New Jersey, all in the name of a good cause. Appearances were made by Emmy Award winner Armand Assante, Jersey Boys star Dominic Scaglione, Jr. (AKA Frankie Valli from the Broadway musical) and more than 40 exotic cars—including a McLaren and an Aston Martin—in support of Fresco Italian Eatery’s First Annual Mille Miglia Anti-Bullying Car Show Rally. This collection of luxury Italian reds, yellows, blacks and oranges gathered for a four-mile rally through the streets surrounding Church St. and Bloomfield Ave. to the delight of more than 2,000 spectators. Fresco sponsored the rally, along with HudsonMOD, Karma for a Cure, Dieci Uomo Men’s Spa, Wide World Ferrari Maserati and Mille Miglia Italian Auto Club.
At precisely 11am, the symbolic checkered flag was dropped. As the car owners revved the engines, they began their four-mile lap around the center of town, accompanied with a Montclair police escort. After the rally, the cars were lined up on Church St. for the admiring crowd. Fresco served up a sumptuous buffet brunch while Dominic Scaglione sang “Sherry Baby” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” live on-stage.
