Fall Fun: Upcoming New Jersey Wine Events
Saying goodbye to summer doesn’t automatically mean saying goodbye to fun. While the sand beneath your feet is replaced with crisp leaves, the fall has just as much to offer with the return of pumpkin-spiced lattes, apple picking and scarf-wearing. And since it’s been proven that New Jersey is not boring, you can also add wine tastings to that list. Here are the top wine events to look forward to this fall.
Expect the Jersey Skyline Festival, which takes place this weekend at Overpeck Creek, to be a complete representation of its name. Presented by the Garden State Wine Growers Association, the event provides over two hundred New Jersey wines and is situated on the bank of the Hudson River with an unbeatable view of the Manhattan skyline. Tickets include a souvenir glass and wine sampling.
Among the many wineries participating include Auburn Road Vineyards, Bellview Winery, Cava Winery, DiMatteo Vineyards, Hopewell Valley Vineyards, Monroeville Winery, Plagido’s Winery, Sharrott Winery Tomasello Winery, Valenzano Winery, Ventimiglia Vineyard, and Wagonhouse Winery.
Non-wine tasters can enjoy delicacies from Oink n Moo BBQ, JB Wood Fired Pizza, and Let’s Get Baked, Surf and Turf, The Soup Man, and Empanada Guy. Additionally, Saturday provides the R&B and Reggae sounds of Abraham & The Groove, while Sunday welcomes Total Soul, a MoTown-, R&B- and Pop-infused band.
September 13 & 14, 12-5pm, Overpeck County Park, Ridgefield Park, NJ, $20 online, $25 at the door. Buy tickets here.
Grand Harvest Wine Festival
The Grand Harvest Wine Festival returns to the rustic grounds of the Fosterfields Historical Living Farm in Morristown to celebrate great vintage New Jersey wines. The event will host 20 New Jersey wineries and similarly to the Jersey Skyline Festival, tickets include a souvenir glass and sampling, bands, food trucks, and artisanal craft stands. Stay for one day, or the whole weekend: The whole family will enjoy the beautiful scenery and its fun activities.
October 5 & 6, 12-5pm, Fosterfields Historical Living Farm, 73 Kahdena Rd, Morristown, NJ, $20 online, $25 at the door. Buy tickets here.
Cape May Winery Festival Grounds
Following the Grand Harvest Festival, head to South Jersey to the Cape May Winery Festival, held adjacent to the classic Cape May Winery & Vineyard. End the summer shore season with 20 premier New Jersey wineries, delicious shore-inspired foods, and live music. A more important reason not to miss out on this event is that $1 from every ticket sold will go to benefit the Gene Sole Scholarship Fund.
October 11 & 12, 12-5pm, Sandman Blvd (Rt. 9) & Shunpike Road (Rt. 644), Cape May, NJ, $20 online, $25 at the door. Buy tickets here.
Keep Thanksgiving with the family going after it’s over by attending the Holiday Wine Trail Weekend. The celebration takes place at wineries throughout the entire state. This statewide event will include live entertainment and comfort food.
November 28, 29 & 30, 12-5pm, at participating wineries across the state (TBD), Price TBD
