The Monaco Limited Edition Timepiece
By Nicole Musa
With a remarkable power reserve of 42 hours, this beauty is the perfect companion for declaring anchors aweigh! Not only is the Monaco Limited Edition Marine Diver by Ulysse Nardin a spectacle in itself, bearing polished lines and a dramatic 44-mm face display—it is the ultimate exemplification of the brand, Six-Time Principal Sponsor of the Monaco Yacht Show.
Dating back to the 19th century, Ulysse Nardin prides itself in going above and beyond to ensure their timepieces thoroughly compliment the wrists of nautical enthusiasts, both aesthetically and practically. It’s no surprise that the newest edition to the brand’s marine collection fits said mold, and then some.
While the Monaco Limited Edition Marine Diver emits an undeniable maritime presence, its real charm can be found in the fine details. The Swiss watch manufacturer’s iconic anchor emblem is displayed precisely at the 2 o’clock position, the foreground of a face garnished with the reoccurring shadow of a sailboat. A wave-like pattern can be spotted on the bezel as well. The solid case-back portrays an engraving of a boat, yet again, and an inscription that reads: “Conquer the ocean” and “Monaco.” Its red and blue color scheme throughout the face, along with the strap—is utterly quintessential.
As far as performance goes, the Monaco Limited Edition Marine Diver’s water resistance can be stretched to a remarkable 300-meters, unlike most of its predecessors in the Ulysse Nardin Marine collection that more commonly tap out at 100- to 200-meters. It also sports a shaped rubber molding over the crown to provide an easy grip. The ability to display the date, while always beneficial, is therefore mundane amongst its possession of ample functions.
Limited to 100 pieces, the model retails for $8,600 and can be purchased here.
