Night Of Legendary Cigars And Luxury Cars

There was enough understated elegance to suppose that the Night of Legendary Cigars and Luxury Cars was as much about enjoying the finer things in life as it was about its titillating title features, spirits and charity.

And then there was the cigars and cars of course. Sponsored by JR Cigars, the April 12 event was held at the Avenue A Club—an iconic, red-brick building right off the bustle in Newark’s Ironbound district. The century old building, converted from a crane manufacturing plant, retains the high ceilings and metallic walkways of its past and blends well with the original design of the present. In this building, smoking is most certainly permitted.

While attendees enjoyed their complimentary bag full of smokes, many browsed the collection of timeless automobiles, offering a unique contrast to the state-of-the-art vehicles in the Signature Car Collection’s showroom. An affiliate of Avenue A—and in fact housed under the same roof—the Signature car rental firm and northeast headquarters specializes in high-end luxury transports such as the Ferrari California and the Lamborghini Murciélago. When not on the road, this showroom boasts an impressive list of cars, especially when assembled together.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Other times, however, it can be so much more. With a cigar-rolling demonstration by an expert tocedor, attendees were taught how to twist tobacco leaves like a professional. And with a raffle benefiting the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, guests walked away with a Montecristo watch for him and her, a Montecristo 75th Anniversary humidor, a week in a Lexus and many more valuable prizes.
