Have you ever tasted ‘liquid gold’ before? Well, according to restaurant manager Cesare Papagna at Gigi’s, located in the highly-affluent Mayfair district in London, their newest cocktail tastes just like that.  Labeled as the most expensive cocktail in the world, the ‘Gigi’s’ is marketed towards those who have no spending limits. So, if that’s you, it’s time to put your money where your mouth is.

The ‘Gigi’s’ is curated of some of the finest alcohols available for purchase, which is why the drink will cost you nearly $14,500. The cocktail includes vintage Cristal and a splash of 1888 Samalens Vielle Relique Vintage Bas Armagnac brandy. The cocktail must be paid for in advance to ensure that the buyer can afford the hefty price tag. Poured into a champagne flute, the ‘Gigi’s’ is then topped with gold leaf, Angostura Bitters and sugar.

Sam Furlong SWNSGigi’s wanted to thank singer and actress Grace Jones for attending their restaurant opening, and that is how the cocktail came to fruition. Jones is known for her role in the James Bond film A View to Kill, as well as her Grammy nominated tour titled One Man Show.

Papagna told the Daily Mail, “The ‘Gigi’s’ isn’t the kind of cocktail you display on a blackboard. If you have to ask the price, you won’t be able to afford it.”

Before the London-based cocktail was created, the world’s most expensive drink was ‘The Winston’ crafted by Salvatore Calabrese of the Crown Club 23 in Melbourne, Australia. Costing nearly $13,000, ‘The Winston’ is made out of Grand Marnier Quintessence, Chartreuse VEP and 1858 Cognac Croizet, and topped with chocolate nutmeg dust, poppy seed essence, rose essence and coconut. The drink has since been demoted to the second most expensive drink in the world.
