As we gear up to celebrate World Whisk(e)y Day this Saturday, May 20th, let’s take a moment to thank the master creators for crafting such smooth beverages all these years. From Tullamore D.E.W. to Glenfiddich to Balvenie, each bottle offers its own form of perfection. Whether you enjoy a delicate balance of ingredients or a bold flavor, make sure to pour yourself a glass of one of the three below whisk(e)ys in celebration of the holiday!
Glenfiddich is a fan favorite when it comes to whisky, which is why the brand keeps pushing its boundaries when it comes to flavors. Brian Kinsman, the company’s Malt Master, enacted the Glenfiddich Experimental Series and will soon debut his first installment: the India Pale Ale Cask Finish. With notes of green apple, pear and spring blossom, the India Pale Ale Cask Finish offers both a sweet and zesty take on whisky. According to the company, the India Pale Ale Cask Finish is first whisky to be aged in beer barrels. For a twist, Kinsman suggests to serve it over ice with a splash of blood orange.
In the whiskey world, Tullamore D.E.W. needs no introduction. Fans of this Irish drink will be excited to know that the brand has launched a new single malt range, which features a 14 Year Old Single Malt as well as an 18 Year Old Single Malt. The 18 Year Old, however, is the oldest age that Tullamore D.E.W. has released to date, which means it will be impeccably smooth while drinking. With notes of cinnamon, apple and toasted marshmallows, this rich blend will leave drinkers with a sweet taste.
If Anthony Bourdain enjoys drinking Balvenie’s DoubleWood 12 Year Old Single Malt, you know it’s going to be good! This bottle is aged for 12 years in an oak cask, giving it a rich taste, and finished off in sherry oak casks, the golden touch to Balvenie’s bottles. This drink will leave you with notes of fruit, sherry, honey and vanilla, the perfect drink to have on a summer’s night. If you really enjoy the bottle, you can watch how it’s made on Raw Craft with Anthony Bourdain himself!
