Known for its bold innovations and colors, Fornasetti stands at the forefront of the design world. From candles to home decor, Fornasetti enchants consumers with every released collection, and its most recent collection stands true to this statement.
The Cilindro, a limited-edition collection, boasts three different cylinder-shaped pieces that could be used for a variety of functions including cabinet space for glasses, a center table or simply as a stand-alone piece that adds pops of color to a neutral space.
Inspired by tubes in an electrical sub-station, Piero Fornasetti always admired compact forms, which is why many of the brand’s designs follow this type of design. The Cilindro made its official debut at the 2017 Design Week in Milan.
“Its cylindrical outline is a true all-rounder, playing host to a multitude of different decorations,” says the company in a press release. “Its extremely clean, simple lines reflect the importance of the quality of both concept and functionality, essentials for Barnaba Fornasetti [director and artistic heart of the brand], who has been breathing new life into the Atelier’s themes and objects since the Eighties.”
The Cilindro comes in three different styles including the Vetrina Comme des Forna, an ode to Comme des Garcons—the clothing brand that was an inspiration to this year’s Met Gala; Tamburo Comme des Forna; and Cilindro City of Dots. Each are fashioned with wood, lacquered and hand-painted, giving a certain personality to each piece.
