    I Wanna Go To Miami!

Most of us need no introduction to the winter playground of the chilled and fabulous; or more precisely, several of Miami’s adjacent playgrounds—Sobe, Brickell Key and North Beach. Thankfully, even our favorite haunts have to keep their seasonal service-hooks updated. Yet, with only a few days to get it right, even one “miss” on your greatest hits trail can ruin a perfectly sunny day. Well, that’s not going to happen, not on our block. For some, Miami means pure indulgence—the perfect place to launch your new-and-improved flat tummy and your straight-from-the-runway bejeweled bikini. For others, a more extended stay is the wish in hopes of a serious mind-body (life altering) transformation.

So, whether you just want to go to the beach and let everything else just “happen,” or you’re after a more eat-pray-love experience, you could do much worse than Canyon Ranch Spa. The legendary spa’s North Beach outpost has most participants paying homage to the newly constructed “shrine of fine” to maintain their physical health and beauty standards.

For even the most jaded, discerning, been-there, done-that spa goers, Canyon Ranch is one massively
impressive retreat. Think of it as a sort of emerald city in the land of Wizard Of Spas. With a no-stone unturned menu of ailments to fix, cleanse, detoxify, firm, slim, exfoliate, highlight (salon), stretch, lengthen or pump up—it’s all so great and so over-the-top that it truly boggles the mind (and soul). Its telephone book-length menu lists everything from quick 20-minute legs, abs and circuit training to Rock Wall, yoga/Pilates to “body work” massage (amazing) and more—much, much more. Be sure to treat yourself to the Aquavana thermal suites (complimentary with services), varying forms of water and heat-treatment rooms that pique all the senses with steam, rain and pounding falls. HINT: Book a couple of more days than you had originally planned or, even better, buy an on-site condo.

If your stay is brief or of limited indulgence, I hope it finds you at the Mondrian South Beach. Aside
from the outrageously gorgeous hotel—which seamlessly merges the sumptuous, sophisticated and playful—the Mondrian Agua Spa is nothing short of a stunner. Its signature Milk and honey Massage (with organic sesame oil) or blue Kashmir-Saphir Facial will leave you booking your return flight. No newcomer to being pampered and catered to, you’re sure to find something on the menu to drown out life’s endless chatter. Do check out the reflexology or the Swe-Thai fusion massage. Need more pampering? Grab some SJAL Saphir concentrate skincare products on the way out and sip on one of the signature cocktails in the open-air, bay front great room. #LaDolceVita in spades.

Before Downton Abbey, before the Concorde, heck, before mass media itself, there was a name that set the absolute gold standard of the ultimate spa excellence—and it was in Bangkok circa 1850. With branding having exploded globally, the luxe Mandarin Oriental Miami Spa hasn’t forgotten at all what has always set the Mandarin chain apart from other Michelin star recipients. This spa—boasting three floors of wellness—is, happily, no exception.

Hush, plush and sophisticated, yes, but the thinking behind its treatment philosophies stems from one of the original top spas on the planet. Every service here is built on you coming back—from Tai chi, yoga, outdoor Pilates and deeply healing massages, to Opulent rejuvenesence anti-aging facials, oxygen infusions and enzyme peels to so-called “Decadent” series of manicures and holistic foot treatments. My personal favorite? Shirodhara. It’s a 4,000-year-old Ayurvedic, Third Eye Chakra cleanse—a vessel of heated oils (specific to your concern) continuously flowing over your forehead for an hour that will make the world right and bright again. A singular spa experience if ever there was one. It’s simply wonderful.

Now, if you still require more luxe pampering options, other Miami notables are Monsieur Men’s Spa, LAPIS Spa Salon at Fontainebleau Resort, AVEDA Spa Salon at The Palms Hotel and Spa at One Bal Harbour. Namaste, spa lovers.
