Guests who attended the Consumer Electronic Show, which took place in Las Vegas last week, were able to catch a glimpse into the future and experience first-hand the latest innovations that debuted throughout this four-day exhibition. With all of the technological products showcased, one of the most popular items consumers flocked to was launched by the luxury auto manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Benz F 015 Luxury in Motion provides the most lavish driving experience and transports its viewers light-years into the future of luxury automobiles.
Sporting a completely futuristic design, the Mercedes research vehicle moves away from the automatic shifting system that is familiar to most drivers today. Innovators of the Mercedes-Benz F 015 Luxury in Motion focus more so on the forthcoming system of driving known as the autonomous system, which ultimately provides a “hands-off” or self-driving experience to owners.
Dr. Dieter Zetsche, who is currently the Head of Mercedes-Benz cars, unveiled the Luxury in Motion at the CES 2015 exhibition. He spoke to the crowd saying, “Anyone who focuses solely on the technology has not yet grasped how autonomous driving will change our society. The car is growing beyond its role as a mere means of transport and will ultimately become a mobile living space.”
While the autonomous driving system definitely categorizes this vehicle as ‘futuristic,’ that isn’t the only reason why the Luxury in Motion fits into this group. The exterior of the vehicle is unlike you have ever seen before and definitely showcases the future design of Mercedes’ cars. With a 40 percent lighter exterior material, the vehicle sports LED lights on both the back and on the front, which will allow owners to “communicate” with other drivers on the road. When the car is in manual operation mode, the LED lights will shine white, and if it is in self-driving mode the lights will shine blue.
Mercedes says, “Passengers can interact intuitively with the connected vehicle through gestures, eye-tracking or by touching the high resolution screens,” while the vehicle recognizes and familiarizes itself with the owner’s hands.
White nappa leather coats the inside of the Luxury in Motion entirely as well as walnut wood finishing and glass surfaces. Keeping in mind with the idea of giving riders more room in the vehicle, the Luxury in Motion has four spacious seats with rotating capabilities for when the car is in self-driving mode. Users can select two seat arrangements, face-to-face or normal seating. When in face-to-face mode, users can utilize their free time wisely and relax during their commute.
When the car parks, the chairs automatically rotate towards the door to allow for an easier entrance or exit from the vehicle. The doors (both front and rear) on the Luxury in Motion are “saloon-style” doors, which give users even more room to enter or exit.
It’s without a doubt that buyers of the Mercedes-Benz F 105 Luxury in Motion will gain more than just a car, but a luxurious personal oasis made for more relaxing commutes. With a glimpse into the future, it will be hard for the viewers of this car to revert back to their old ways until they can get their hands on this autonomous car.
