Gentlemen, you can never have enough timepieces in your collection, so add a little blue to your assemblage with IWC Schaffhausen’s 10th special-edition timepiece in collaboration with Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, an organization that uses sports to develop positive skillsets in children’s lives. Every year since 2006, IWC has partnered with Laureus to develop a special-edition watch engraved with a drawing from a child. This year’s engraving, located on the back of the face, depicts children playing different sports together. Other features of the Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 Edition timepiece include a moon phase display, deep-blue face with 12 diamonds set in stainless steel and a Santoni blue alligator leather strap. Only 1,500 were made, so if you have your eyes set on this treasure, act fast.
No longer do you or a family member have to be a maestro to enjoy live piano music in your home. Steinway & Sons has developed the Spirio. Dubbed by the company as the “world’s finest player piano system” and operated with an iPad, the Spirio allows the user to select prerecorded performances by pianists including Jenny Lin and Robert Glasper and then watch as it replays the exact performance mimicking all key and pedal movements. You can also manually play the Spirio if you’re so inclined, giving you the best of both worlds.
Louis XIII, Hermès, Saint-Louis and Puiforcat have partnered to create four stunning sets called the L’Odyssée d’Un Roi celebrating the renowned cognac’s traveling heritage. Each French brand added its own special touch to the sets, which will be showcased in their own worldwide traveling exhibition. Sotheby’s will auction three off in September. The L’Odyssée d’Un Roi is comprised of a leather hand-stitched trunk by Hermès, a white-gold pipette by Puiforcat and mouth-blown crystal decanters etched with world maps and four glasses by Saint-Louis. The decanter will be filled with an extremely rare blend of Louis XIII formulated by cellar master Baptiste Loiseau and his predecessor Pierrette Trichet. The cases go on display in May in New York before being auctioned off. Money raised from the auction will benefit the Film Foundation, a nonprofit developed by Martin Scorsese to help protect classic films.
Two luxury brands, BMW and Montblanc, have banded together to create a memento that will last a lifetime… or at least for the next 100 years. At the launch party for BMW’s brand-new, limited edition Series 7 “Next 100 Years” vehicle, the famous writing-instrument company also unveiled their collaboration project, the Centennial Fountain Pen. This limited-edition writing tool is another perk owners of the Next 100 Years vehicle will enjoy. Mirroring the look and feel of the luxury car, the Centennial Fountain Pen boasts a deep blue and rhodium-plated pattern, a gold nib that showcases the series’ signature pattern and a black onyx crown. The pen even comes encased in a leather pouch to ensure safekeeping no matter where you take it.
Jersey City is home to some of the Garden State’s finest eateries, and Ryan DePersio and Joe Calafiore just opened the doors to another: the Kitchen Step. DePersio, who serves as the executive chef, is known for his incredible dishes at Montclair’s Fascino and Jersey City’s waterside restaurant Battello. Now, he has extended his talents with the Kitchen Step, cultivating a menu consisting of inspired contemporary American dishes. The Kitchen Step is located in the Historic Van Vorst District. The restaurant’s name derives from the Van Vorst home, which has a marbled step leading from the kitchen to the garden. Guests at the Kitchen Step will enjoy decadent meals including olive-crusted salmon, crispy duck confit and ricotta gnocchi, just to name a few, as well as stunning cocktails. Can’t go wrong here!
