With so much focus today on beauty brands being conscious of the environment, its ingredients, and how it tests its products, it is a wonder Rahua haircare is a newer line. Rahua focuses on the Rahua oil found in the Amazon Rainforest and infuses it into all of its hair products.
Rahua has recently released its Color Full line of products ($10-$62), which seeks to protect hair’s coloring and keep it looking new for longer. After hair is colored, a negative ion is created and the Rahua oil has a positive charge, which allows for the hair to bond tightly to the oil which will then penetrate the core of the strand. The products use other natural ingredients such as cranberry oil for shine, Amazonian lilac clay to reduce brassiness, hibiscus extract to add bounce and more. The Color Full line includes a shampoo, conditioner and hair mask, all of which contain the Rahua oil.
The founders of Rahua, husband and wife Fabian and Anna, took their honeymoon to the Galapagos islands and fell in love with the environment there. Inspired by this trip, Fabian and Anna created the Pink Flamingos Project. A portion of the proceeds from Rahua’s Enchanted Island Sea Salt Spray ($32) will go towards this project to conserve the environment of these endangered animals. The flamingos’ lagoons have become polluted by garbage that washes up from the ocean. Rahua’s affiliate group, EcoAgents, will donate up to $10,000 every year for the removal of this garbage.
Similar to the Color Full range, the Sea Salt Spray contains all natural ingredients such as pink sea salt, guayaba sugars, hibiscus extract, and passion fruit. The Sea Salt Spray is also cruelty-free and only contains vegan ingredients.
Rahua products are available at Barneys NY, Net-A-Porter, SpaceNK, Sephora.com and Rahua.com.
