In 1950, Philippe and François Roche, and Jean-Claude and Patrick Chouchan met at the Copenhagen Furniture Fair and decided to collaborate and import Scandinavian furniture to Paris. Shortly after, boutiques started selling Roche Bobois furniture and in 1961, their first joint national advertising campaign was launched in Elle magazine. On February 4, HudsonMOD magazine had the honor of hosting the premiere of their new showroom in Paramus, New Jersey, which was met with great success.
This exclusive event garnered over 200 guests from Northern New Jersey and New York and included delectable treats and world-class entertainment.  As soon as the guests arrived on the red carpet, they were welcomed by our Lifestyle Editor, Amber Milt, who conducted interviews with multiple Roche Bobois staff members including Rashell Matos, showroom manager; Pierre Berardo, general manager of the Northeast network; and Martin Gleize, international director for Roche Bobois.
Other notable guests included Ren Miller, Editor-in-Chief of Design NJ; Sarah Smith, Director of International Home Furnishings at ELLE Décor; Katie Tomlinson, Home Furnishings Manager at Veranda; Jon Walker, House Beautiful; Liz Reingold, Advertising Director at Design NJ; David Hamilton, ELLE Décor; Kate Rumson, Real Houses of Instagram; Bert Baron, WCTC AM Radio; Linda Barba, BC (Bergen County Magazine); Tammy Keck, Design NJ; and Kelly Cannon Buchsbaum, Regional Director at Interior Design Magazine.
Celebrity interior designer and HudsonMOD’s Design Editor, Vanessa Deleon, addressed the crowd and explained why Roche Bobois is the perfect addition to Paramus. Afterwards, she introduced Pierre Berardo, who spoke wholeheartedly about the opening of the showroom. Shortly after his speech, Paramus’ Mayor Richard LaBarbiera officially welcomed Roche Bobois to Bergen County by conducting a ribbon cutting ceremony, which marked the official opening of the storefront.
The night featured passed hors d’oeuvres exclusively crafted by Culinary Creations, signature cocktails from Figenza, champagne and a wine and chocolate pairing bar featuring Godiva and sommelier Maria Scillieri, who aided the guests in properly pairing their wine with chocolate.  Fragrances from Maison Francis Kurkdjian were on display as well as automotives from Maserati of Bergen County and Jack Daniels Porsche.  Throughout the evening, guests were entertained by the dynamic trio, The String Angels, who captivated the audience with their electric performance. DJ Chris Segarra also played many great hits throughout the event.
Roche Bobois also held live demonstrations of their iconic furniture piece, the Mah Jong sofa, which was showcased by Massimo Cimatti. Cimatti, who is a highly trained artisan of the Mah Jong, demonstrated the intricate detailing and passion goes into making each piece. The new collection of the Mah Jong features vibrant colors and patterns in collaboration with Missoni Home, a staple statement piece for any contemporary home.
As the celebration came to an end, guests were gifted a bottle of Figenza Vodka, so they could take home a piece of the party with them. Roche Bobois has certainly found its home in Bergen County and will continue to thrive and lead the way in furniture and design.
