On Saturday, February 10, one of the city’s biggest food events is making its return: the Art of Food. Held at Sotheby’s, Art of Food will showcase more than 25 New York City restaurants that will create and present one dish to guests. The dish will be inspired by a piece of artwork that is hanging in Sotheby’s.
This year’s event will be hosted by Richard Meier, famed artist and architect, and Chef Claus Meyer. Chef Meyer is internationally known for his Nordic-style dishes and New Yorkers can now visit his new Grand Central Terminal restaurant Agern. The first 50 VIP tickets sold will receive a signed copy of Chef Meyer’s book titled The Nordic Kitchen.
Participating restaurants and chefs include: Andy D’Amico from 5 Napkin Burger, Alexandra Shapiro from Flex Mussels, Mark Strausman from Freds at Barneys, Bobbie Lloyd from Magnolia Bakery and Benjamin Zwicker from T-Bar Steak, just to name a few. Each restaurant will be set up around the showroom serving the dish, while the artwork that inspired the chef hangs throughout the room.
Sponsors of the Art of Food 2018 include Our Town, New York Presbyterian, WQXR, Effen Vodka, Flowers on the Park, MassMutual Greater Long Island and Yelp.
