Beginning on Thursday, May 19 at 10 a.m., Sotheby’s will be auctioning off around 20,000 bottles of Koch’s prized wine collection that consists of around 43,000 rare bottles. According to Eli Rodriguez, who will be the auctioneer of the acclaimed sale, says that this auction “has the potential to be the highest grossing sale we’ve [Sotheby’s] ever held,” which means that this is a must-attend if you are a wine connoisseur.

William I. Koch’s wine cellar is, as you can imagine, incredibly breathtaking and filled with thousands of completely rare collections that would sooth the palette of any well-versed wine drinker. However, Mr. Koch himself told Sotheby’s, “I could not possibly consume everything in my cellar, so I am delighted to offer this selection to allow collectors all over the world to enjoy the glorious moments that come with these wines.”

Screen Shot 2016-05-13 at 3.38.03 PMSome wines that will be auctioned off during the three-day event will include bottles of Bordeaux and Burgundy. The shining prospects include rare bottles of Chateaus La Tache, La Tour and Lafite. Some other bottles Mr. Koch has collected that will also appear in the auction will be Giacomo Conterno, Barolo, vintage Colgin Cabernet Herb Lamb and many more bottles from regions including Italy, California, Spain and Australia.

Jamie Ritchie, CEO and President of Sotheby’s Wine Americas and Asia, said in a press release, “Bill Koch has one of the greatest cellars in the world, packed full of legendary wines that all collectors want to try.” He continued to say, “We are delighted to offer this wonderful selection from his very impressive cellar, which will give collectors the opportunity to buy and enjoy these wines. As you would expect, the wines have been stored impeccably and are in exceptional condition.”
