In a couple of years, New Jersey residents will get a taste of the modern day American Dream, a $5 billion megamall expected to be completed in the Meadowlands in the summer of 2017. The magnitude of this complex will rival that of the Mall of America, America’s largest mall, and will be owned by the same company: the Triple Five Group.
With about 3 million square-feet of shopping, the American Dream Meadowlands will be home to more than 400 storefronts including high-end luxury brands such as Hérmes and major department stores. The iconic Canadian retail company Hudson’s Bay Company has decided to bring three major department stores to the American Dream including Lord & Taylor, Saks 5th Avenue and Saks OFF 5th outlets. Other stores set to call the Meadowlands home are Aritzia, Banana Republic, Gap, Lululemon, MAC, Microsoft, Pink, Uniqlo, Victoria’s Secret and Zara. According to Hudson’s Bay Company, the American Dream will “welcome 40 million visitors annually.”
“American Dream is one of the most unique projects in the world—it is elevating the shopping center format to combine retail, dining, lifestyle and entertainment to create a total experiential destination,” says Richard Baker, Governor and Executive Chairman of Hudson’s Bay Company in a press release. “We believe that shopping is an entertainment experience, and the American Dream concept exemplifies that philosophy fully.”
Shopping, however, will not be the only aspect of the American Dream Meadowlands. Visitors will be able to partake in a wide variety of activities including a water park, amusement park, mini-golf courses, Big Snow American indoor ski slope, performing arts theater, NHL sized hockey rink and a giant Ferris wheel. Guests will also be able to enjoy food from coveted eateries including those from Carpaccio & Bellagio. Back in October 2015, the American Dream Meadowlands announced three new brands that signed onto the project including a Cinemex movie theater, SEALIFE Aquarium and LEGOLAND Discovery Center.
The megamall is currently underway and is in close proximity to MetLife Stadium; so the next time you’re driving through East Rutherford, NJ, keep your eyes open. To keep up-to-date on new additions to the American Dream Meadowlands, please visit www.americandream.com.
