As soon as the news had dropped fashion fans everywhere have been excitedly awaiting the release of the newest Gucci line. This time, however, Gucci’s line will hit closer to home. Creative director Alessandro Michele announced, “Gucci is pleased to announce the launch of Gucci Décor, an eclectic collection of items with which customers can dress their own spaces.” The collection will have items from candles to silk screens and the price range varies as much as the items do. Where a candle or incense tray might cost just under $200, a silk screen may cost you about $30,000. Michele’s idea is that if the items are easily moveable, the buyers can continually “dress and redress” their home.
The décor line will highlight many of the animals and patterns that have been seen in Gucci products in the past. Cats, snakes, cheetahs, tigers, and flies are only some of the patterns that can be found. Each of the motifs is embroidered and applied by hand and the process take approximately ten hours, according to an Instagram post from the brand’s page. Gucci’s step into the world of décor is one already made by other luxe brands such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Along with its beauty and fashion icon status, Gucci has just given themselves a perfect trifecta with this décor branch.
Alessandro Michele is also the creative director for the Florentine brand Richard Ginori, a porcelain manufacturing company. The tableware, candles, and incense trays in the Gucci décor line were made using Richard Ginori porcelain, and buyers can be assured of only the best quality. The line will be available online and will be circulated through Gucci’s stores internationally in September. Until then, fans will have to wait and pre-pick their favorite items online.
