Marriott International’s The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. just recently revealed its luxury yachting and cruising line, which will bring grandeur to the open seas starting in 2019. The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, three custom-made, ‘marina-style’ ships, holds 298 guests with 149 individual suites. Each suite also has a private balcony, so that guests can view the skyline from sunrise to sunset, the smell of sea salt in the air. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. hopes to offer a variety of services through this collection, such as charter tours, access to smaller ports larger liners can’t enter and typical cruise voyages.
The first two ships, debuting in 2019 and 2021 respectfully, offer guests a diverse traveling experience. The ships will traverse locations such as the Mediterranean Sea, Northern Europe, Canada, the United States, the New England area and Latin America. The second ship will have minor route changes, accessing ports different to the first but still in the same areas. The last, expected to set sail in 2022, focuses solely on the Pacific Rim. The expense of traveling the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is not yet established, but reservations will be available by May 2018.
Fine-dining aboard the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is ensured, as 3-star Michelin chef Sven Elverfeld of Aqua is set to head the kitchens of the first ship’s 2019 debut. There is also a wine bar, live entertainment and a Ritz-Carlton Spa available for passengers to indulge in.
Entering the luxury cruise industry, however, doesn’t leave The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. without competition. Brands like Regent Seven Seas, Windstar Cruises and Crystal’s Esprit are some of the few popular cruise lines already filling the market. The Ritz-Carlton believes its smaller size, which offers custom tours and destination journeys, fulfills higher demands that the larger ships can’t. These curated trips, Ritz-Carlton knows, will allow guests to experience the beautiful destinations in the most unique ways possible.
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. revealed their collection with much excitement, having wanted to enter the industry for the past 10 years. Guests can expect the very best out of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, whose itineraries will vary from seven to 10 day schedules.
